What next for Iraola after Man Utd snub & Chelsea-Alonso links?

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola rejected the chance to continue his phenomenal work at the Vitality Stadium, opting to leave the Cherries this summer after three fantastic years.

The Spanish tactician has taken the Premier League by storm with his aggressive style of play, catching the eye of sides like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Crystal Palace.

Iraola is reportedly holding out for a top job. However, Manchester United seem set to continue with Michael Carrick, while Chelsea have Xabi Alonso at the top of their managerial shortlist.

Iraola is now at a crossroads. He can take the Crystal Palace job with the club potentially competing in the Europa League next season if they win the Conference League.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner has turned the Eagles into a cup-winning machine. They clinched the FA Cup last season and the Community Shield at the beginning of this term.

Iraola can continue from where the Australian tactician left off, but it might feel like a sideways move for the former Rayo Vallecano boss.

His Bournemouth team could secure Europa League football this season if they clinch the right results in their next two league games.

The Palace move doesn’t feel like the jump Iraola’s career deserves at this point.

There is also a dearth of exciting projects that will appeal to him. The Athletic Bilbao job looked intriguing, but that ship has now sailed.

One project that could interest the 43-year-old is back home in Spain, with the underrated Marcelino Garcia Toral leaving Villarreal at the end of the season.

Iraola would be the perfect fit to take over in the Villarreal dugout. The Yellow Submarines will likely secure Champions League football, giving him extra incentive.

Reports claim he wants to continue in the Premier League, but if the La Liga giants can pitch an exciting project, it could convince him.

Another club to watch out for is Olympique Marseille. Habib Beye’s outbursts might cost him his job soon, and Iraola could be on their radar.
